Install and finish concrete slabs and metal floor decking
In 2018, Nationwide Concreting successfully delivered a comprehensive design and installation package for the 1,881m² concrete ground floor slab at SEGRO Park in Bracknell. This project was completed in collaboration with our client, Francis Construction, as part of the development of this premier industrial and logistics hub.
Our scope of work also included the installation of metal floor decking and concrete for two upper office floors, totalling 554m² with a depth of 130mm. This combination of technical challenges showcased our ability to handle diverse project requirements while maintaining the highest quality standards.
The ground floor slab was a substantial undertaking, involving the installation of 200mm-thick concrete reinforced with a single layer of A252 mesh. To enhance the slab’s performance and durability, we incorporated saw cuts at 6m centres to control cracking and ensure long-term structural integrity.
To achieve a flawless finish, we utilised our state-of-the-art Ligchine BOSS laser screed machine, which delivered exceptional accuracy and levelness across the entire slab. The use of this advanced equipment exemplifies our commitment to precision and efficiency on every project.
In addition to the ground floor slab, we completed two office floors using 1.2mm gauge ComFlor 51 metal decking. This system, combined with 19x95mm shear studs and A193 mesh reinforcement, was specifically chosen to maximise the load-bearing capacity of the cured concrete floors.
The installation of the office floors required careful attention to detail, ensuring that all structural elements were seamlessly integrated. Following the concrete pour, the slabs were meticulously power floated to create a smooth, durable surface that met the client’s functional and aesthetic expectations.
All concrete slabs were designed and finished to achieve FM2 tolerance, a high-performance standard that ensures precise flatness and levelness. This level of accuracy is essential in industrial and commercial applications, where even minor deviations can impact the operation of equipment and overall usability of the space.
