Concrete Warehouse Flooring for BAM Construction

We were instructed by main contractor BAM Construction to design and install a ground-bearing concrete floor slab for the newest industrial unit at the growing Dunsbury Park in Havant. Two different designs were required to comply with the specification of the different areas of the industrial unit. The largest area was the main floor of the warehouse, with our design needing to accommodate a leg load of almost 100kN. The concrete floor would also be subject to a powerfloat finish to Concrete Society TR34 FM2 flatness.

Production Process:

The huge warehouse floor needed to be completed within a tight programme, and our team successfully carried out the preparation, pouring and finishing in just 12 days. This fantastic achievement demonstrates the importance of thorough planning and commitment throughout the team in order to accomplish these results. With each concrete pour averaging 350m3 and pushing 2,000m2, it was an ideal opportunity to showcase the capabilities of our fantastic Somero S-22EZ laser screed machine. Not only does our Somero compact and level the concrete, but it also provides a very aesthetically pleasing finish as you can see! This is then complimented by working through the night powerfloating the floor, before getting ready to go again for the next pour.

More About the Warehouse

The new building is for BioPure Technologies Ltd, a fluid-path component manufacturer that is part of global engineering company Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group. The 120,000 sq ft specialist facility which Portsmouth City Council is building at its award-winning business park Dunsbury Park will generate millions of pounds of rental income for vital council services and will be a major part of the post-COVID-19 recovery. The building will be ready for production in 2022 when it will create around 120 new manufacturing and engineering jobs.
