Production Process:

Nationwide Concreting was proud to partner with Brymor Construction on a substantial 11,000m² concrete flooring project for their client, Rich Foods. This high-profile project was a key part of the development of a new production warehouse, requiring both technical expertise and careful project management to deliver on time and to the highest standards.

The job comprised a 1,100m² first floor and a 10,000m² ground floor, both cast in 1,000m² bays. Designed to meet the exacting demands of a modern production facility, the concrete floors provided a robust and durable foundation for the warehouse operations.

Innovative Techniques and Preparations

As part of the preparation for the concrete pours, our team installed 130 metres of Isedio shield joint around the dock levellers. This specialised joint system was carefully positioned to support the structural integrity of the 225mm-thick concrete slabs while minimising potential cracking or movement at high-stress points.

The ground floor and first-floor slabs were reinforced with rebar and mesh to ensure maximum strength and durability. These preparatory steps were carried out with precision to meet both the structural and functional requirements of the warehouse.

• A team of four workers handled the preparation and installation of the rebar and mesh reinforcement.
• Six operatives were responsible for pouring the concrete, with eleven pours in total required to complete the floors.
• Four power floaters were on-site daily, ensuring the concrete floors were finished to the smooth and polished standard required for a production environment.
