Project Overview:

Nationwide Concreting was thrilled to collaborate with Reynolds Groundworks on a significant project in Woolwich, which involved the installation of a 2,627m² concrete floor. This project required meticulous planning and execution to meet the client's expectations and address the unique challenges presented by the site.

Concrete Pouring Process

The project was completed in three phases, with each concrete pour averaging approximately 90m³. Precision and efficiency were crucial during the pouring process, as the slab was designed to support multiple steel columns while maintaining a consistent thickness of 100mm.

To achieve this, our team employed a smart approach, utilising an optimal piping line layout to manoeuvre around the steel columns effectively. This solution ensured the concrete was poured accurately and consistently, meeting the required specifications without compromising structural integrity.

Overcoming Challenges

This project presented significant challenges due to the presence of steel columns and the need to maintain a uniform slab depth. The tight spaces around the columns demanded careful handling and precise pouring techniques to avoid any irregularities or weak points in the slab.

Despite these challenges, our experienced team leveraged their expertise and innovative methods to deliver a high-quality result. Powerfloating and Finishing

Once the wet concrete was laid, our Powerfloating team began their work to achieve a smooth and durable finish. This phase required significant skill and attention to detail, particularly as the slab included a dry shake topping that needed to be applied before the concrete fully cured.

The dry shake topping added complexity to the finishing process, requiring the team to work efficiently while maintaining precision. The end result was a polished, high-performance floor that met the client's functional and aesthetic requirements.
