Back How to maintain a concrete factory floor

Concrete is highly durable, making it the perfect choice for factory flooring. However, better maintenance will keep your concrete floor stain and damage free for even longer.

Whilst concrete flooring requires a lot less maintenance than the majority of factory flooring options, no surface is completely maintenance free. Follow our concrete contractors’ expert tips for keeping your concrete floor in the best possible condition.

Clean any spillages as quickly as possible

Whilst concrete flooring is structurally resistant to water, oil, petrol and grease stains, if left to sit for too long, they can leave an unattractive stain behind. For this reason, it is important to clean up any spillages as they happen, rather than leave them until later. Some substances, such as acids, can also eat away at your concrete factory floor so should be dealt with quickly.

Sweep your concrete floor regularly

In a factory setting, loose debris is bound to gather over time. Regularly sweeping your factory floor will not only keep your concrete floor looking cleaner, but also reduces the chance of sharp or abrasive bits of debris being ground into the surface; this can cause unattractive chipping and scratches. Avoid using wire brushes, as this can damage the surface as well.

Only use mild cleaners

Polished concrete floors are a popular choice for factory flooring and provide a high-shine finish. However, the use of highly acidic or alkaline cleaning solutions can damage the surface, so cleaning agents like bleach and ammonia are off the table. We are happy to recommend some cleaning agents to help you maintain your concrete factory floor.
