Oxford Science Park
5,896m2 of metal decking and 7,793m2 (1,104m3) concrete floors
Installation of steel decking and concrete floor slabs
Our first full package project; we were approached by Barnwood Construction to undertake the supply and installation of the metal decking and concrete floor slabs at Oxford Science Park. We began the project by constructing 5,896m2 of Comflor 60 0.9mm steel decking, before installing two layers of A393 reinforcing mesh in preparation for the 1,897m2 concrete ground floor slab.
Once the metal decking and mesh had been completed, we employed the assistance of our sister company, Wright Minimix and one of their concrete pumps to efficiently lay the ground floor slab in two pours. We also completed the concreting for the upper floors over seven pours, which measured a total of 5,896m2 and required 772m3 of ready mix concrete and A193 mesh. Once the reinforced concrete was successfully laid, our concrete finishers got to work and completed the concrete floors with an easy float finish.
Our team are very proud of this concreting project, which incorporates all aspects we offer as part of our concrete flooring service. We even managed to save Barnwood Construction valuable time on their project, as prior to engaging with us they were running behind schedule. Our efficient team of experts and excellent timekeeping meant that they gained back the week they had lost, putting them back on schedule!
