New Warehousing Unit
7000m2 - Pump Discharge, Laser Screed, Power Float, Cure & Seal.
Co-ordinate all stages of an industrial flooring project to specification & deadline.
Nationwide Concreting were asked to undertake an industrial concrete floor installation for a new warehouse unit in Buckinghamshire, supplying all labour (12 operatives), concrete, materials and plant to apply concrete floor slabs measuring approximately 7000m2 and appointing our own partner structural engineers.
Initially, Armoured joints were installed before Isolation joints were fixed around all perimeters / internal walls & columns. The design of the concrete floor slabs dictated that they be installed by laser screed technique, to be nominally 125mm thick, with concrete discharged via a concrete pump.
Following the pour, the Laser Screed was driven into position, jacks were lowered, telescopic arm extended over concrete and screed head lowered into position on the concrete floor. Once the laser receivers had locked onto the laser beam, all levelling was fully automatic with a checking and correction of 5 checks per second and the screed head compacting & screeding an area of 22m2 of concrete floor in a single pass. Any areas of the concrete floor that could not be reached by the machine were hand screeded.
The floor was constructed with a layer of A142 mesh reinforcement on a 1200 gauge slip membrane and finished to an FM3 tolerance in accordance with TR34 (2003 Edition). The surface of the concrete floor was finished to a highly polished smooth and durable finish using Nationwide Concreting’s own concrete floor finishing machinery - a Whiteman HTN Series, Petrol-driven, Ride-On Power Trowel with circular steel panning discs attached to the existing blades.
Power Floating was completed when a smooth, level floor, free from all noticeable ridges, had been achieved and the finished, Power Floated surfaces were then Sealed & Cured using one coat of Sika Proseal to the manufacturer’s specification.
This project highlights Nationwide Concreting’s ability to co-ordinate all stages of an industrial concrete flooring contract from planning and design to concrete finishing and to deliver a high specification finish concrete floor service to client requirements & deadline.
